White Water Rescue Technician - Foundation (WRTF) - 6 Hours/ 1 Day

This Foundation Course is designed for novice white water users with little or no experience e.g. Packrafters, Kayakers, Canoeists, SUP etc. includes the basic safety and rescue skills required in a moderate white water environment

Course Skills:

  • Rescue 3 philosophy

  • Training standards

  • River hydrology and hazards

  • Personal equipment

  • River running considerations

  • Assessing risk

  • Communications

  • Strainer considerations

  • Boat wrap/pin considerations

  • Whitewater swimming techniques

  • Conditional rescues – throwbags

  • Introduction to shallow water techniques

  • Foot/body entrapments

  • Flips/rights and self-rescue

Pre-requisites:

Minimum age: 18

Must be a confident swimmer

White Water Rescue Technician - Recreational (WRT - REC)
- 12 Hours / 2 Days

Designed for recreational white water users with prior experience, the White Water Recreational Technician Course provides the key skills required to perform rescues in white water river situations. 

Course Skills:

  • Rescue 3 philosophy

  • Training standards

  • Best practice guidelines

  • River hydrology and hazards

  • Personal equipment

  • Technical and group equipment

  • River running considerations

  • Assessing risk

  • Managing an incident

  • Medical considerations

  • Night/poor visibility considerations

  • Communications

  • Strainer considerations

  • Whitewater swimming techniques

  • Conditional rescues – throwbags

  • Introduction to shallow water techniques

  • Foot/body entrapments

  • Introduction to knots and anchor systems

  • Introduction to mechanical advantage

  • Tethered rescues

  • Line crossing methods

  • Handheld diagonals/zip lines

  • Simple boat wraps/pins

  • Victim/casualty management

  • Scenarios

White Water Rescue Technician - Professional (WRT - PRO)
- 18 Hours / 3 Days -
29-31 May 24

Designed for Professional white water users with prior experience, the White Water Professional Technician Course provides the key skills required to perform rescues in white water river situations.

  • Technical and group equipment

  • River running considerations

  • Assessing risk

  • Managing an incident
